New Highway Code changes will give cyclists more priority than drivers from the Autumn
The new rule will mean cyclists have priority when travelling straight ahead at junctions as well as when they step onto a crossing. A new hierarchy of responsibility system will also be introduced in a desperate attempt to curb accidents.
This will put more responsibility onto those who could cause the greatest harm on the road.
The updates will place pedestrians at the top of the heirachy and most at risk in a collision.
An upgrade will also be made to speeding rules in a bid to cut down on the number of offences.
The Highway Code will also shift to supporting a “healthy and sustainable” transport system as well as just promoting road safety.
