Briefing 30 01 2022

Campaigning > Cyclewight Briefings
Dear Members,

An end of the month catch up.

The initial Cowes LCWIP process closes on Monday, 31st January. If you have not visited the site yet please do. https://app.placechangers.co.uk/campaign/225/overview   Your support/objection to any of the comments will help improve cycle provision in the Cowes area. Some areas to look at particularly are, better access to the Red Jet, a cross Cowes route and the seafront.
We have met with the company doing the E. Cowes LCWIP. There is still time for individuals to comment on the proposals. https://secure.journeysurveys.com/answer/1558/prompt
Newport to Sandown route. Work on the badger damage at Merstone is to be carried out this week.  The track at Alverstone is to re-open at the beginning of March. There is no official confirmation of that though it is from a member who has links! We have written to Southern Water but no reply.
Much in the news is the new highway code. As an affiliated group of Cycling UK we have received this video about the new changes .  https://www.cyclinguk.org/safer-highway-code-cyclists
Finally, if you have not already looked at our Facebook page for our Carisbrooke and Gunville project please do.
